JeffKnox, I've done it with a 35 chain on a mini bike. Not to mention, Where the chain is cut, the remaining(unused) section, it longer than the section I'm using, sooo I have back up.

I'm just trying at all costs, not to have to knock out any welds, or add any new welds. My dad has a welder, and I can weld(haha that debatable) But it's not have powerful as the welder I used for this winch, so it will take 3/4 passes to get it to hold properly

Now I got the chain on and it is REALLY tight. Went to spool up the rope, and tried to pull it back out, and it's a no go. That rope is stuck in there. Just keeps getting better and better

No it spools on fine as far as using the motor goes. But free wheel. there is no way. I even tried adding links to make the chain really loose thinking the chain being tight was the problem, and no such luck

THawk12593, I'm on day for. looking back I'd rather take 10 days and get it all right...that do it fast and run into problems way down the line like I did. However my mommy and daddy arent paying for a winch...so I built one. But if your will buy you one...go for it. And get a pull dozer

Try the half link or offset link(whatever you call it). It worked good for ours until we added the tensioner.

Classy, i think it may be a problem with your torq-a-verter then, assumming you're not using a CC. Saw this happen to someone's winch a couple weeks ago. Don't know how they fixed it but they said the torq a verter needed cleaning.

LFArmada, Well This four days was actually 8 ro 10 of peoples "normal" winch working days. We got off work and went to work on the winch, not finishing until 2 or 3 in the morning...and then monday we worked on it 12 hours...

problem solved. I had a buddy help me rig it up, and he put on the TAV, because I had no clue who it went on, and he put the belt on the wrong way...apparently the belt is made to go one way.

PS. dont use home depot rope, it stretches too much, and you cant get up. Smash
