I am wondering what I should fill the fin holes with when I ride without the fins in. I heard candle wax, but has anyone tried that? If so, how did it work?

I took a couple cheap tiny paintbrushes and put two coats of marine varnish in there. A plus is that you can take fins on and off as needed without messing with wax or anything temporary.

go the hillbilly way and put a piece of electical tape on the top and bottom...comes off easy when you want to put your fin back on and it has worked well at keeping the water out for me so far

no you would have to re-drill it...
you could go to the hardware store and get plastic snap caps at {1/4 20} size that will fit perfectly in there and pop out when you want... Thats what i use.

my 4-trac came with rubber plugs, but they stick out too much and so i just melt wax into the holes.

I've had bad luck with wax(melting in the sun) and plastic plugs (randomly dissapear after a session) i just bought some threaded plugs and threaded the holes and screwed them in they worked the best when i had my cassette, they look like a piece of a bolt with a hole for an allen wrench in the top you can get them at the hardware store the best part is you can get them small enough that they don't stick out and if you get them in stainless they don't rust
