Which do you guys prefer? I have a foam board right now, but when I get a new one I might get grip tape. My friend is getting a 2003 concave so I will ride it some and decide which type I like. Which one do you guys like?

If I had a dollar for every time this topic came up, I would be a rich man.

You could also do a Forum Search to see about a million opinions on this topic.

I will give my opinion again though since I haven't commented on a foam vs. grip topic in a while. I personally prefer the EVA on the Cassette and Liquid Force skates. I also just got a Kampus K41 the other day with EVA foam grip and I rode it for the first time Monday and liked the foam they use. I don't really like the Hyperlite foam as I find that one slippery.

I much rather foam over grip tape. To me, wet grip tape doesn't do the job. But I am a slacker when it comes to keeping my grip tape fresh. My 4 trac has bald spots in the grip and I still have the original grip tape on it. It is bad off and needs to be replaced.

But to answer your question again, I prefer EVA foam. I feel that I get a better grip with it and can feel the board just fine.

Hope that helps.

Alright, thanks for the info and one more question. Is the foam on the Cassette boards close to the Kampus foam? If it is, I might replace the grip tape with the Kampus foam at some point on a 2003 4-trac if I can find one.

It is similar, I like it. I like the foam that I had on my '03 43" Cassette the best overall, but I would definitely buy the Kampus foam if I wanted to put foam grip on a deck that came with grip tape. I don't think you can get the Cassette foam seperately like Kampus does.

Thanks so much for the help. I love the 2003 Cassette foam too. I will try my friend's concave soon and hopefully make a decision.

If you have ever skateboarded u will like grip on your wakeskate because it gives you back the feeling of it.

I've skateboarded my entire life and still prefer foam in the water. When dry, griptape is great, but when wet, it doesn't do much good.

I'm going to have to totally second Dave's opinion here.I've skated my whole life but I still prefer foam over tape in the water. If nothing else it gives a little padding to your feet for w2w Laughing

I have no problem with the grippiness on a taped board, and I hated the catalyst foam. It's gotta be the shoes...... Laughing
