looking at a custom NEW board to buy this spring, and i was wondering what the step rail is for, is that to make it feel more like a bi level? or does this help it cut better? i'm curious...

so far my board consists of a 5 stage rocker with concave and kicktails, and a custom graphic

It's supposed to help you sink your rail in a cut.

Does anyone have a picture of the difference between a standard and stepdown rail?

Without them you wouldn't be able to get into large vehicles, like monster trucks or airplanes.

the step rail is a personal thing. it makes a larger board feel smaller. they look super custom. Smash

You know now that I think about it, I think my daewoo hatchback needs a step rail it sits pretty high off the ground. In all seriousness I'm pretty sure it allows the board to sit deeper in the water to help out with edging i/e harder more exagerated.
