being a wakeboarder and skateboarder, being curious about the 450.00 FWT board in the 1998 WBM buyer's guide (that I could not afford by any stretch of the imagination), and the grace of thomas horrell.
The end. _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |

i was wakeboarding one day at ski rixen and my friend handed me a old 2003 byelry and bet me 5 bucks that i could not make it around the cable first try. I did it and i slowly became more hooked as the years went on. Now i am at a 50/ 50 between wakeboarding and wakeskating and i am still in love with anything involving the water _________________ -andrew- |

I had tried wakeskating last year and then saw the chick flick with Stef Tor; then came to this site and watched some of the videos this spring. Loved wakeskating after I got my own board...only wish I could do more tricks. |

| I have a big boat and Jama likes to bum pulls. About 4-5 years ago, he showed up with a skate and I tried it out. I think my exact words after the first time were "That was fun as shizzle!" |

| My dad split a i/o Chris Craft with his friend back in 1996. At the boat store in Fort Worth, I bought a Flight 69 133, which was the closest to twin wakeboard I had ever seen. I was about 12 or 13 and after a year of riding I was doing all kinds of inverts and spins behind the Chris Craft. I didn't have anybody to teach me because I was in east texas, and wakeboarding was about the only thing that wasn't big in texas. I competed and won some contests wakeboarding. The local shop sold FWT traction pads and I nearly got a pair, but then Liquid Force came to town and I got out on their boat to demo some product. They had a promo "wakeskate" I got to try out. It was really funny, reminded me of a body board, it was really fat had a foam top and slick bottom. The next day I tore my bindings off my 133 Flight 69 and put surf wax all over it. Started wakeskating back in either 97 or 98, but it was pretty ghetto to say the least. However, I fell in love with the sport. I was so stoked when wakeskating blew up and I am still hooked and get others hooked constantly. |

OMG I HAVE THE BESTEST STORY EVER!!!
It's 2004 and Hurricane Charlie is doing work on Florida... So, naturally, we decide to have a party. Everyone shows up at my house for the usual mayhem (sex, drugs, rock n roll). A few hours into it and it's getting dark, we're all wasted, and attempting to grill burgers n brats in 80 mph winds. This is right around the time where the novelty of being without essential services such as power, cable tv, and internet starts to wear off and we start looking for something stupid to do.
After a few failed attempts at "wind skating" with a make shift sail and skateboard my buddy who also happens to be named Charlie comes up with THE idea. We get as much rope as we can, tie it to his jeep, and see if we can try this new thing called "wake skating" in the field behind my house that's slowly filling with water. BRILLIANT! Beers in hand we searched for as much rope as we could find. Luckily we scrounged up just enough to get a decent pull (about 500'), ghetto rigged a handle, and grabbed Charlie's 04 Aaron Reed 4-trac. Being the only person that had actually wake skated before Charlie was up first. I backed his jeep up to the "pond" that had formed and we did a quick test pull to make sure the rope was gonna hold.
This got my nosy neighbors interested enough to leave the refuge of their homes to beach at us before they could even figure out what we had planned to do. It's dark, raining sideways, and we've got a crowd of bitching neighbors who are really only encouraging our shenanigans. PERFECT! And that's exactly what it was, it worked perfectly. We had just enough road to get a full pull across the 6" deep pond before you had to turn. So thats what we did, ALL night, pull after pull, beer after beer, it was the best hurricane ever.
We continued to skate there for days after the storm had passed. It started to look like a mini skate park with a flat rail, kicker, and random objects to ollie over. The neighbors continued to beach and try to ruin our fun but we weren't having that. In the end I had a separated shoulder, a huge grin on my face, and a new sport to fall in love with. _________________ -Paul |

| uidzero, you have to love those neighbors that the second it looks like your doing something that is slightly dangerous/loud they get pissed and call the cops. I had neighbors like these a few years back. We would skate in my street and they would just complain and beach to their hearts desire. Always calling the cops at night when we would have lights up and shizzle. Finally we ended up moving to my current house which is on the lake and on 14 acres! No more problems with the neighbors. F*CK them! ha |

David_Roehm, The neighboorhood just sucks balls. A bunch of asswipes that have nothing better to do than to beach. The HOA there even tows cars if they are in the street past 2 am. Dopest house in the worst hood in the world. _________________ http://www.wakeskateclips.com/ |
