Hi there, I am new to wakeskating.com, joined yesterday. Very Happy

I just got my LF Maven and I am VERY much a beginner on wakeskating. I have boarded for 4 years and skated just briefly last summer.

I would love any tips or things I need to know about getting up on a much heavier board. Last year I used my husbands HL Scape and well let's just say the Maven is heavier. I popped right up on the Scape and want to know what to expect tomorrow when I take my Maven for her first ride.

...any advice would be appreciated!

HAHAA The great state of TX!!! I figure this board is going to be night and day different from the toy we played on last year. I bought a helmet too...

I wouldn't except too much of a difference in getting up.. you're going to be riding a little deeper in the water if anything.. the Maven has nice variable edges on it so you'll like riding on the lip better than the Scape..you're also riding a concave now so your feet are gonna feel locked in as opposed to the ol' scape. Good pick on the new board.. have fun and tell us how she rides.

take the short trip down to tsr (san marcos) and break that helmet in. if you have never been, it is well worth the trip.

wakechick, If you & your husband feel like coming over to Lake Lavon sometime, my wife & I are out there skating every weekend, and there's plenty of room on our boat. We have a couple different skates you guys are welcome to try out, and I'm sure my wife could offer you some riding tips.

I think the main area in which you'd notice a difference is if you're doing ollies, shuvs--things like that. Getting up should be a cinch, and I'll bet you'll like the concave after you ride a bit more. But yeah, once you start trying to make the board leave the water, you'd probably find you'd have to put a bit more effort into it. If you haven't been doing that, then I wouldn't sweat it!

Hey girl, I rode a maven a few weeks ago and it was a solid ride, much better than the scape fo shizzle. Good luck with things.

nalwor, usually lake ray roberts (about 9 miles north of denton). sometimes lewisville (where i live) or lavon. i think tsr is about 20 for a half day or 30 for a full day. not sure exactly but some other guys on here ride there al the time. i'm sure they can tell you. either way it is really fun and i would pay whatever they were charging.

OMGosh...I never saw all these posts. So!!! Early Saturday morning (VERY early...) we headed to Lake Ray Roberts, I was the first run of the day. It was actually a bit chilly...but i LOVED...ABSOLUTELY LOVED that Maven. I had no problems getting up and the ride was AWESOME! I definitely need more time on her and will probably be getting out to TSR within the next month or two when we visit our friends in Houston.

I can't believe how many peeps are in my neighborhood. PM me with your info and we should try to hook up. I am thinking of getting a skate board so I can practice when I am not on the water. Oh, tried a surface 180...that board moves really fast so that takes a bit of an adjustment...completed the 180 and when I tried an Ollie...well realized that I was skatin' not boardin' Laughing

Awesome More chicks on the site. Its great too see the chicks rippin it up now. I saw the maven the other day. Sweet board. Nice and thick. YOu said you bought a helmet? Do you use it when you ride of just on rials because it not safe especially wakeskating to wear a helmet just while normal riding. Its fine for rails. Just because the helmet floats. I might go further into it later about it.. WELL ENJOY THE BOARD!! and enjoy rdiing. WELCOME TO Wakeskating.com
