ive got an old school yamaha wave venture 1100, it really sucks at staying at a certain speed, and its not just me cause i can hop on a gtx and keep in within 1-2 mph. anyways i was wonderin if anyone knew if you can modify somthing on a pwc to make speed control easier _________________ F.T.D.S |

ive got a couple things to wedge in between the throttle. i put notches in it for different speeds, kinda ghetto but it keeps speed and keeps me from getting a tired hand after a long set |

thas cuz your pwc is probably 2 strokes.... get a 4 stroke engine and speed control will be a lot easyer.
if not, try not to compensate on the throtle, the carving the rider does! _________________ CONCAVE co.

stompin9s,
maybe its an isolated fact. Unless your 2 stroke is a VERY strong pwc and you dont have to push the throtle a lot, 4 strokers are more mellow than 2.
The caracteristics of a 2 stroke engine are to compress/expell in one stroke and to expand/ aspirate on the other stroke (4 process in 2 strokes)...(i'm not sure if the english is correct, but I belive you get my point)
The four stroke piston will make the same 4 process in 4 strokes, thus it will make 2 complete cicles for 1 single explosion.
These caracteristics make 2 strokes operate in a higier RPM, be more explosive and torquefull while the 4 stroker will reach less RPMs and be more mellow.
4 strokers are technologically more developed tha 2's, and polute less, so thats why they are beeing more used on motorcicles, pwc, etc... but specialli on a smaller engine 2 strokes will be more eficient. _________________ CONCAVE co.

Does not compute
P=T*w where P is power, T is Torque and w is angular velocity.
So, if you have more horsepower, you either have more torque at the same RPM or the same torque at higher RPM.
If the engines have the same power then they have to balance the torque or RPM on the other side of the equation.
So do 4 strokes run at lower RPM with more torque and 2 strokes at higher RPM with less torque? |

the better torque on the 2 strokes is at higher RPM, and on the 4 strokes at lower RPM. _________________ CONCAVE co.

Which is why you can putt around on your 4 stroke dirtbike all day and not stall out.....4 strokes are great for low end torque
As a rule, if you want torquey smoothness go with the 4 stroke, if you want responsive acceleration go with the 2 stroke.

Bakes5, if your stalling you have a problem lol. but atleast i wont be kicking my 2 stroke all day if it does stall. and they are running 4 strokes in supercross, but they but the 450 4strokes in the 250 class. but...
i would probably say 4 strokes are better for pwc's. i just like 2 strokes cause its really simple and if you have gas and spark you have a running machine. easy to get running and fix, for me at least. |

| we just got soem 98 seadoo gtx limited's and when i had it on the lake 5 mins before it broke i was trying to keep it at 20 to see how easy it was and i never got 1mph away from a speed change. but then again that was also without a rider. i plan on making something to wedge in between the throttle to keep it good |

its not that i cant keep a "steady finger" if you hold the throttle in one spot, no moving at all, it randomly accelerates, i think theres def. somthing wrong with the thing cause i can keep speed on any other of my firends pwc just fine. _________________ F.T.D.S |
