Well last night and this morning I decided to draft out the design I plan on using for my winch, It is based on tried and true methods, but it was mainly designed for simplicity, easy of use and I also aimed to keep the costs down.
I eliminated the trailer hitch attachment because I have a pick up and there really is no need for it in my scenario. I also included a "rough" estimation of what it should look like when completed Laughing

without further ado....

**EDIT, pictures fixed**

You might want to reconsider your frame design... maybe something a little more like this for a stronger structure.

Personally I wouldn't ditch the option of being able to load it into your hitch receiver. It comes in handy when you need to get in and out somewhere quick and poach fountains and such.

LAXitives288, I think what sleu was trying to say is the diagonal support bars on the sides need to be longer, and at a steeper angle. It needs to reach almost the top of the more vertical bar that holds your spool, and a little over half way down the horizontal squareish part of the frame.

LAXitives288, you are really pushing the envelope. your radical new frame designs look exactly like evey other winch out there.

TTUFAN24, Maybe that has something to do with the fact that...

It works.

Being creative with this stuff is great, and putting new ideas into effect. But at some point you find the what works best, and it sticks. I mean i'm sure there were people out there when skateboard shapes were being figured out saying "It looks just like every other skateboard out there" and look now, all boards are shaped generally the same. LAXitives288 didn't say anything about some new crazy idea. In fact he said the opposite when he said it was "Based on tried and true methods"

Nice looking frame Smile

I see what hes getting at now, extra frame strength can never hurt, so I guess the support bars are getting extended.

TTUFAN24, dude, I didnt say I was gonna set the world on fire with my radical twin spar space age hydroformed aluminium frame, I just posted it up to get some input, and thats what a I got, extend the support bars, if you dont like it, dont post.
