| The Omen's seem really nice, but my only concern would be with the tip/tail of the boards. They look kinda thin (about the same as a wood deck), and almost all the wood decks I've come across either get crushed or severly dented in those areas, thus being the part of the board that goes first. I know it's composite, but it still seems like that would be the weakest part of that board. To those who have been riding them... Have you found those areas of the board to cause any problems after awhile of wear and tear? I'm curious to see in depth pictures of these boards after a few months of abuse. |

wakeskate242, Nobody on the team has ever had a problem with blowing out the tip or tail, and they have been bashed into concrete at 25+ mph.
The tip and tail also have a half inch of sidewall. the whole surrounding edge of the board has a ton of pressure when pressed so there is about a one in a thousand chance you could ever blow one out.
Take a look at this video... these decks went through hell and the only two boards that survived that day were the Omen and Integrity. Both decks took quite a few really bad nose dives into the concrete.

I will try to get some pics up here in a day or two, my brother has my camera at the moment... Also talk to Samhill on here aka Pete from Strictly skates. I gave him a little demonstration last year on how strong our sidewalls are. It consisted of me throwing a deck around a parking lot and bashing the sidewalls into the concrete over and over as hard as I could.
I even offered his friend $500 if he could bash the sidewall out of it into the concrete.
Basically... You will break bones before you break a Omen deck. _________________ arson-wake.com |

Thats not really fair to say that the only boards that lasted were the Omen & the Integrity.
Considering the only other deck there was Engen's Satellyte, which was one of their prototype decks. Obviously being a prototype there are going to be some issues like all protos. |

| Was Dusty there too? If so, he usually slides his already thrashed byerly. Last time I rode with him, he had one of Engen's decks in the bed of his truck & holy crap, that is the exact reason I would never buy a wood deck. I'm sure it's a different story when you are consistantly given new decks, but to have to buy a new one quite often would suck! Anyways, your post has boosted my confidence regarding my concern. I think I'm still gonna wait it out and try to ride it and each of the boards I have in mind before I make my next purchase. Thanks for the reply! |
