hey guys whats up im new and stoked on this site. anyway ive been wanting to learn kickflips bad lately but keep kicking the board down into the water. ive heard to take ur wakeskate on the tramp and learn them there to get the feel for kicking it better? also currently im riding the kharma 112 with skate grip but i wanna switch boards up cuz of how hard those edges are and the kicktails for some reason arent made wide enough. i like hyperlite skates so i wanna hear whats up with the grubb skate. i noticed the beveled edges and i already have alot of problems with catching the lip on lip shuvs and stuff. does this beveled edge really help out. also i was looking into the bilevel for sure but im worried about it water logging. ive had cassettes before and they would delam and get heavy which wasnt bad but does two decks get really heavy? anyway sorry for so many questions but thatd be rad if anyone could give me some advice

What's up man, I think you need to move you front foot back on your kickys. Also think flick on the way up on your ollies, not kicking down.
The hype skates are good , I don't like the karmas and the grubbs too much, the Byerly design seems sick though. The bi-level is heavier; but you'''l know why when you ride it. It has anti-gravitational pop.
The tramp is awesome I can only hit a few flip tricks on the water; but on the tramp you can hit everything, stuff nobody has hit yet. Tie a rope to a tree and have sessions with your bud. They are the next best thing to being on the water. Have fun with it homeslice.

tomvanwake, on ur question about the catalyst and byerly: personally man u know how wakeskating is. u gotta try and demo them so u can see which one u prefer. I believe that they are both really good skates and the athletes that endorse them(grubb/byerly/Gdaniels/) all ride them and win. I myself ride a 112 catalyst. kinda on the big side however the edges are really nice for shuvs. Truth is u'll get a lot of ppl on this site who will intro u to the many other independent companies and u should give them a holla as well. If ur flowin with comp then i would suggest integrty or liquid force. Good luck and aloha.

tomvanwake, if your into composition boards you should check out integrity. you can shape the edges however you want and if you mess up you can do it again. they are really good skates with a lot of pop and very durable

for kickflips you might wanna move your front foot a little more back... seems like your foot is too far forward

I ride the 05 Catalyst and I really like it. I can't ollie as high as I can on a regular wood flat deck but shuvs are way easier on it and I have come closer to landing kickflips on it than any other board.

one thing that helped my friend learn kick flips is to imagine your doing it over something, This helps you get the board higher out of the water.

Oh yeah and count to three when doing it. it helps your timing a sh)t load.
