I have two cassette decks, 04 Reed and 05 Concave and they both have delaminated. I like the feel of Cassette's decks, but they need to figure out how to make skates that won't delam. I contacted them via phone to get a new one, and it took time, but they did get me a replacement. They fall apart anyway, so I ended up sanding mine down and using fiberglass resin to seal them back up. Works well. Good Luck. _________________ Can't knock Wakeboarding, cuz of Wakeskating's origins. |

SnapCracklePop, how much does your board weigh now with the fiberglass coating? _________________ integrity-wake.com | chriscut.com |

I bought mine from Performance and I think it's funny how fast they reply on e-mail regarding sales and how slow they reply on e-mails regarding warranties...... how could that be?
(erik.n, I can't ride for a while, fizzle up my foot and eating antibiotics...) _________________ _____________________________

Chris Barcellos, not that much more. The 04 reed board is solid and heavy anyway, so fiberglass resin doesn't add much more weight. I sand in all down, take the grip off too, then apply a 2-3 thin coats of resin with a cheap brush. Home Depot has some resin and menards has the cheap brushes. It's tricky cuz not enough harder = too sticky, and too much = brittle. It's got to be right. Hope that helps. I do it every year to prevent the wood from splitting. _________________ Can't knock Wakeboarding, cuz of Wakeskating's origins. |

Rob Hey I can get some pics on later tonight. The only tricky thing for a bi-lev would be that the resin isn't going to be good if there is a lot of flexing, and if the top is designed to flex there might be trouble. I haven't tried this, but I think marine grade paint would seal things up pretty well. It might be worth a try. Maybe look into a quart of sailboat paint. Highly toxic, but will work I'm sure. _________________ Can't knock Wakeboarding, cuz of Wakeskating's origins. |

SnapCracklePop, I always glue the edges to seal them but rails always fizzle them up after a few rides. I managed to fix my Bi temporarily so hopefully I can ride it a few times more. See how long it will last this time... Haven't got a single answer from Performance or Cassette regarding my warranty claim. (Should have bought it from Buywake instead, they seems to take care of their customers, a friend of mine got a new Bi-level from them within a week after his old delaminated....) _________________ _____________________________

Good luck with the replacements everyone. I got a replacement, but it seriously took from August 2004 to March 2005 with a ton of phone calles in between. Find something for the rest of the summer and continue to call during the slower months when most people are done calling. Give it time, but he'll pull through.
Rob, get the glue in between the layers and clamp it tight! _________________ Can't knock Wakeboarding, cuz of Wakeskating's origins. |
