has anybody ever used anything other than laquer on the bottom of their skate to seal it.. like poly. or anything.. if so how did that go?

what did you find was the easiest way for making your stencils.. my grenade i start on some cardboard but i dont know how clean the edged will be and what not.. anybody have any other suggestions?
